Rituals of Calm:
At Home with Yulianna Sardar-August

In her Copenhagen home, sound healer and mother Yulianna Sardar-August creates an environment where rhythm and mindfulness guide each day. Through simple rituals, she transforms ordinary moments into spaces of calm and connection.

In her home in the old, charming part of Copenhagen, sound healer and mother Yulianna moves through her day with a sense of balance, dedicating her energy to family, creative work and small moments of stillness.

Her approach to wellness begins with creating the right environment, one that supports her daily rhythm and makes good habits feel effortless rather than added on.

“My practice weaves naturally into daily life,” she says. “It’s not separate from it; it’s what keeps me grounded.”

Sound healing, a practice built on vibration and resonance, forms the foundation of her work. “Because I work closely with people and hold space for them, it’s important for me to cleanse both my energy and my physical body. Sound is one of the tools that helps me do that. It clears the space and helps me reset.”

As the new year begins, Yulianna invites us into her home to share her daily rituals - moments of calm, connection and care. For her, calm is not only stillness but also a gentle intuitive flow: a continuous state of openness built day by day.

Her mornings begin with intention. “I start in the bathroom, washing my face with cold water to wake up, then move on to my skincare routine. From there, I head into the kitchen, take my supplements with hot water, and prepare matcha or cacao. That small ritual awakens my senses and gently guides me into the day.”

The bathroom, unusually spacious for an old Copenhagen apartment, is where Yulianna sets her intentions for the day. “My mornings can get busy with a child,” she says, smiling. “But preparing things the night before and aligning with my husband about our schedules helps us both create space for care.”

Her morning ritual blends the practical with the sensory - soft light, natural textures, familiar scents. It’s a moment of grounding before she steps into the rhythm of the day.

As the day unfolds, Yulianna balances structure and spontaneity. “My morning rituals carry me through the afternoon and create the foundation for the rest of the day. When things feel chaotic, I pause, take a deep breath, focus on acceptance, and then move forward with a smile.”

Her living space is both workspace and sanctuary, holding moments of focus, play and creativity. Her sound instruments rest nearby, ready to be used when the energy calls for it. “A few of the instruments live in my bedroom and hold very intimate, personal meaning for me. I play them only when I’m home alone or during private sessions.”

Calm, for her, is cultivated through movement, water and sound. “Moments of solitude are essential,” she says. “Even a short walk by the water can make a profound difference, helping me return to my inner centre.”

When daylight fades, the atmosphere softens. “Evenings begin with my son; we play, read or watch cartoons together. It’s a natural transition that allows the day to slow down.”

Later, when the home grows quiet, the bathroom becomes her sanctuary once again. “I love taking long baths with plenty of salt and essential oils. Water is my element; it truly restores me,” she says. “I can easily spend more than an hour there.”

In her Haze Cabinet, she keeps everything for her evening rituals: body oils, brushes and natural products that help her unwind. Candlelight and fragrance fill the space. “I love the atmosphere that builds slowly,” she says. “It’s like returning home to myself.”

For Yulianna, rest means renewal. “Rest is a state of stillness,” she reflects. “A moment when there’s no need to rush or to do my best.”

Every space in Yulianna’s home serves a purpose: to soothe, to restore or to gather energy. Through thoughtful design, calm becomes part of daily life, from the classic Haze Cabinet that keeps wellness essentials within reach to the Mist organisers that bring structure and balance to her bathroom.

In the bedroom, she creates a small corner for her daily ritual: a book, a cup of herbal tea and a candle set on the Bon Tray. In the living room, her sound instruments rest on a Weaver Throw, while the Santany Bowl holds sage and palo santo, ready for cleansing.

Through rhythm, space and sound, Yulianna has created a home that nurtures both energy and ease - a sanctuary for balance, reflection and creative renewal.
