Scandinavian Lighting
Lighting decides how a room feels after dark, and it is the one thing most people choose last. A single lamp in the right place changes a room more than a new chair does. Ferm Living makes lighting in solid marble, mouth-blown glass, braided rattan, brass and powder-coated iron, from floor lamps and pendants to shades you can mix with our own fittings. Every product page lists size, weight, socket type and light source, so nothing is left to guesswork.
Lighting is more than lamps. It decides whether a room is somewhere you settle in or somewhere you pass through, and it does more of that work than almost anything else you put in a home.
Ferm Living is a Danish design brand, and the lighting is built the way the rest of the range is built. Marble, mouth-blown glass, brass, rattan and powder-coated iron, with as little as possible between the material and the light. That is what Scandinavian lighting means in practice here. Shades that spread light rather than direct it, bases heavy enough to be left where they are put, and finishes that show the material instead of covering it.
Portable lamps
Rechargeable lamps solve something wired lighting cannot. They move. The same lamp can stand on a dining table through dinner, sit on a windowsill afterwards and go out to a terrace the next evening, with no outlet involved.
Ours are built from the same materials as the rest of the range, with rattan and metal shades on weighted bases, and they charge over USB-C. Floor lamps
A floor lamp needs weight before it needs anything else. Ours are built around solid marble and powder-coated iron, heavy enough to stand beside a reading chair without shifting when someone reaches past.

Table lamps and lamp bases
Table lamps here fall into two groups. Some arrive complete and are ready to place on a desk or a bedside table. Others are sold as bare bases, in several sizes, and are meant to be paired with a shade chosen separately.
The second group is worth knowing about. It is the same principle as our pendant fittings, and it means the lamp can be changed later without being replaced. Compare the designer table lamps.
Wall lamps
A wall-mounted fixture frees the surface beneath it. That suits a narrow hallway where a floor lamp would be in the way, or the wall above a bed where there is no room for a bedside table.

Pendants
Over a dining table, the drop matters as much as the lamp. Our pendant fittings are sold bare, in a high and a low version, so the height is decided by the shade rather than by the fixture. Finished pendants in mouth-blown opal glass and glazed ceramic are ready to hang as they are.

Lampshades and the Collect system
Shades here are sold separately, not only as part of a finished lamp. The Collect shades come in brass, black brass, cashmere, light grey and white, each made to fit our own pendant fittings and lamp bases. Alongside them sits a wider range of shades in paper and rattan.

Help choosing
If you are not sure which lamp belongs where, it helps to start with the room rather than with the lamp. Measure the ceiling height before you look at pendants, check where the outlet actually sits, and decide whether you need light to see by or light to sit in. Those three answers narrow the range quickly.

What is Collect Lighting?
A system of pendant fittings, lamp bases and shades sold separately, so the shade and the fitting can be combined and changed independently of each other.
Can I buy a shade on its own?
Yes. Shades are sold separately and are made to fit our own pendant fittings and lamp bases.
Do the portable lamps need to stay plugged in?
No. They are rechargeable and charge over USB-C. They should not be left connected to power once the battery is full.
Which bulbs do the lamps take?
Socket type and maximum wattage are listed on every product page. Bulbs are sold separately unless the lamp has an integrated LED.
How do I clean a marble base or a rattan shade?
Wipe with a damp cloth. That is the care instruction for the marble, the glass and the rattan alike.
